The Val de Blore is a valley carved by an ancient glacier, which connects the Tinée Valley with the Vésubie Valley. Its history is linked with that of the Nice County, after the unconditional surrender of Nice to Savoy in 1388. In 1947, the Treaty of Paris returns the territories that were ceded to Italy in 1860 and, in particular, the village of Mollières, in the heart of the Park. The valley opens to the west, on Tinée, and “Blore” (Bloura in patois), which means “very steep grassy slope, between forests and rocks.” Because of its exposure and morphological characteristics the location was chosen in 1931 by the Ski Club of Nice for the opening of a small ski resort. The proposed route offers many vantage points along the valleys of Vésubie and Tinée and a wonderful view of the Mercantour peaks.

Itinerary description

1 From the Tourism Office, go up the road that leads to the “Colmiane Forest” (sign 93) where you can practice accrobranche (tree climbing, a sport which consists of passing from one branch to another). Then continue up to the Col du Suc (sign 312a and picnic area).

2 Continue along the left lane to the junction of several routes.

3 Follow the right path that comes into the Colmiane Peak. Possibility to go up (up and down) on top. Beautiful 360 degree panoramic view.

4 Take the right path to go down the Colmiane Hill. You’ll enter an area of grazing horses and cows: make sure to close the fences securely behind you. At the Colmiane Hill (sign 312), you will discover a magnificent view of the Vésubie Valley.

5 Continue going down on the left path, which crosses the ski slopes and dates back to the Col du Sac (sign 312a). Resume along the carriage road to the right that goes directly back to the Tourim Office.
