A spin between the mountains

Stura

The Stura Valley is the “spin” par excellence, the historic route that leads from Piedmont to Provence through the important Colle della Maddalena. Other routes, La Draio, the trans humane paths, all characterize this long valley of rolling pastures and gorges, within which a recovering breed of the Sambucana sheep was recently discovered. The Pontebernardo Ecomuseum is dedicated to the survival of these sheep. Another un-missable museum if Mountain in movement, housed in the 19th century Vinadio fort. These same fortifications, dating from different periods, constitute one of the most interesting in the territory, together with their offer of skiing in the winter and the almost infinite possibilities which are open for excursions of hiking in the summer and ski touring or snowshoeing in winter. Each of the ten valleys within the Stura Valley hides a promise and a discovery: the Terme of the large valley of Bagni di Vinadio, many hamlets on the mountain, lakes, hiking and mountain climbing in the valleys of Arma and San Bernolfo and much more…
